Two bases.
One way
of seeing.
I divide my year between Florence and Orange County. In Italy, familiarity is practical: language, venues, travel, light, and the small decisions that keep a day moving. In California, I am not arriving on assignment; I live and work here. Everywhere else begins with the same preparation.
Italy, from
the inside.
Italy is where my instincts were formed. I work in the language, understand the pace of its venues and suppliers, and know that the useful details are rarely the romantic ones: when the light leaves a courtyard, how long a transfer actually takes, and which part of the plan needs translating before the wedding begins.

Tuscany
Siena, Chianti, Volterra, Lucca — the country an hour outside Florence in every direction, and the part of Italy I have photographed most.
Tuscany, in detail Abbazia di San Galgano Borgo Pignano Villa Lena Casale de' Pasquinelli Villa di Nozzole
Florence
The villas on the hills around the city: Fiesole, Settignano, Arcetri. Twenty minutes from my own front door.
Florence, in detail Torre a Cona Villa Gamberaia Villa La Fonte Villa di Maiano
Lake Como
A lake where half the logistics happen on water, and the timeline has to be built around boats rather than cars.
Lake Como, in detail Villa del Balbianello Relais Villa Vittoria Relais Villa Vittoria
Rome and central Italy
The city itself, and the hill country that starts as soon as you leave it — Lazio, Umbria, and the roads between them.
Rome, in detail Villa Aurelia Hotel de Russie Villa Baroncino Castello Il Borgia Castello di Santa Tecla
California,
in full light.
Orange County is my second base, not a stop on an itinerary. I photograph weddings across Southern California — from the coast to Temecula, San Diego and Ojai — with the same preparation and a different quality of afternoon.

Orange County
Home base. Newport, Laguna, Anaheim Hills — and the reason a wedding in Southern California is a drive for me and not a flight.
Yorba Linda
Where the Richard Nixon Library sits, and one of the few venues here with a garden built for a formal ceremony.
Temecula and inland
Wine country and the hills behind it, where the afternoon light lasts longer than it does on the coast.
Wherever the day is
worth the flight.
For celebrations outside my two home regions, I travel selectively. The preparation begins before I arrive: place, schedule, local team, movement and light are understood before the wedding asks for a decision.

you are going.
