The dogs came
for the cocktail hour

Catamaran Resort · Mission Bay, San Diego

Everything happened in one place: the details, the private vows, the ceremony on the south beachfront, and a reception that ran from golden hour on the sand into a dark room at eleven. Fifty-two people, sage green and blush, and — at a quarter to six, exactly on the schedule — two dogs.

The Catamaran sits on the water at Mission Bay, and this whole wedding took place inside it: preparation in the rooms, a first look and private vows in the gardens, the ceremony on the south beachfront, cocktails on the lawn and dinner upstairs.

Nobody drove anywhere, which is why the afternoon has the unhurried quality it has. The half hour after the ceremony was spent on the sand with the light going, and not in a car.
