Eight people

Abbazia di San Galgano · Chiusdino, Siena, Tuscany

April and John waited two years through COVID to get married in a roofless Cistercian abbey outside Siena, with eight people watching. Then they drove an hour north and had the rest of the evening at Borgo San Felice.

Borgo San Felice is a restored hamlet in the Chianti hills — a village with one owner, which is a strange and very useful thing at a wedding of eight. Nobody has to be anywhere at any time.

The abbey gives you one hour of extraordinary light and then gives you nothing, because there is no roof and no power. Everything after it has to happen somewhere else. That is the whole logistics of marrying at San Galgano, and it is worth planning for.
