A ceremony in Rome,
and a garden
behind a wall

Hotel de Russie · Rome, Lazio

A July wedding that crossed Rome twice: a short white dress and a bougainvillea bouquet through the streets, a ceremony under a canopy in the Tempio Maggiore, and dinner in the terraced garden behind the Hotel de Russie — a piece of quiet that most of the city walks past without knowing it is there.

Two Romes,
in one
afternoon

The day used the city as a corridor: out of one door, along a street in the heat, in through another. Which is why half of these frames are pavement and traffic and the other half are a walled garden with nobody in it but the wedding.

Rome rewards that. It is a city of interiors reached through exteriors, and a wedding that walks between them is photographed differently from one that stays put.
