A bridal editorial at Relais Villa Vittoria, Laglio, Lake Como

One bride,
and a lake
underneath

Relais Villa Vittoria · Laglio, Lake Como

A bridal shoot on the shore at Laglio: four dresses, a pergola hanging over the water, lilac and violet on a long table, and nobody in the frame but her. No ceremony, no timeline — the venue and the light, examined properly.

Why shoot
a venue
empty

I have photographed weddings at this house more than anywhere else on the lake. A day there gives you about ninety seconds on the terrace between one thing and the next.

An empty afternoon gives you the terrace at four, at six and at eight, which is how you learn where to stand on the day when there is no time to find out.
