One oak tree,
and a valley
to put it in
Country Relais Le Capanne · Volterra, Tuscany
Booked for September 2020, married in July 2021 — a hundred people in the hills above Volterra, in the first summer everybody was allowed to gather again. A welcome dinner the night before, a ceremony at half past four under a single oak, one long table outside, and a floor that ran until one in the morning.

Deep colour,
because they
asked for it
The brief they gave me was unusually precise: pop colour, no pastel, nothing overexposed, deep but not dark, and black and white used sparingly. So this set is warmer and denser than most of the rest of this site, on purpose.
The other thing that made the day was the evening before it. Everyone met in Volterra and we simply walked — the amphitheatre, the arches, the steps down from the Piazza dei Priori. It costs almost nothing and by the morning nobody in the family is being photographed by a stranger.
